The vast majority of people are overweight or obese and this is constantly increasing. Fortunately the percentage of people who want to know about weight loss is also increasing and this creates the need to provide information about weight loss for beginners. In our scope beginners are classified as those who do not know anything about how to lose weight and are looking for information on how to get started.

So, you have a number of extra pounds and you want to lose weight. How do you start? The first thing you have to do is understand the basic principles of weight loss and weight gain. This is pretty straightforward in the sense that if you constantly consume more calories than the calories you burn you will gain weight. If the opposite occurs i.e. you constantly burn more calories than consumed you will lose weight. For those who like numbers, one pound is about 3500 calories. As you already understand to lose one pound you need to save or burn 3500 calories. Let’s see how you can achieve that.

There are two main pillars related with losing weight. These are diet and exercise. Most people when they think about weight loss they think of diet. This is partly true because the diet (i.e. what you eat) plays a very important role. When we talk about diet and weight loss we mean that you should follow a balanced diet that will give your body the nutrients and vitamins needed for healthy functioning and at the same time save enough calories so as to lose pounds. This is possible if you are careful and selective on what you eat and drink. There are various types of food and drinks and you need to learn how to select those foods that are low in calories, sugars and fat. Food labels can give you this information and it is up to you to buy those items that satisfy the above criteria. Organic foods are a great example of food that meets these criteria.

The second pillar is exercise. In order to help your body burn more calories you need to exercise. Unfortunately for some, there is no other way. If you do not move and work your muscles you will not be able to burn calories and fat that is accumulated in your body. Exercise is vital for a healthy living. It promotes the development of muscles and the elimination of fat and above all it has a lot to offer to your health and well being. There are so many types of exercise and you are free to choose the type of exercise that you like and it according to your needs.

To sum up, if you want to start losing weight and enjoy a healthier life you need to analyze your diet and make sure that you provide your body all necessary nutrients with minimum calories and you have to get up and start moving so that you burn calories.  Another great thing to try is drinking wu long tea – it is no magic solution but research does show that it can support healthy weight loss efforts.
