In this article you will find 10 rules for when eating in or ordering out. They will help you to make it more waistline friendly. Here’s how:

1. Avoid anything deep fried

Deep fried foods are a big diet no-no. So stay far way from anything deep fried.

2. Choose the cooking method smartly

Ask the chef about the cooking method and make sure that yours is either: baking, stir frying, grilling or steaming. Stay away from all the other cooking methods.

3. Stick to lean meat

Stick to lean meat and avoid fatty y meats. Good meat choices includes: lean red meat like sirloin and fillet, fish and skinless chicken.

4. Bulk food up with salad or vegetables

Half of your plate must consist of salad and vegetables in order to consume less calories and fat from the food.

5. Skip the chips

Chips should never be on your menu. Healthier options to include are baked potato and sweet potato.

6. Start with a starter

Starting your meal with a starter will help you to fill up and to eat less of your main meal.

7. Have salad dressing on the side

Never order your meals without asking for salad dressing on the side. If you do you will be getting in much more calories than you should.

8. Limit your alcohol intake

Drinking too much can cause you to eat much more than you should and as alcohol is high in calories, you will be getting in extra empty calories.

9. Have low fat sauces

Low fat sauces like chili and soy should be preferred over unhealthy sauces.

10. Share the dessert

When you are in the mood for dessert, only have half and give the other half to a friend.

Cheated on these rules?

When you did indulge in cheat foods, just burn the excess calories of with extra cardio. The best cardio machines are stepper machines and eliptical cross trainers.

So next time you eat out or you order out, keep these 10 rules for when you order out close by and your meal will be healthier and waistline friendly.

Get Trim and Enjoy Losing Weight!

by Claire Addison on February 20, 2010

No matter where you live, changing season is always a good time to review your plans for losing weight fast and getting into shape.  If winter is approaching, you really don’t want to go into the season with a lot of weight on your body. If summer is coming up soon, you need to get into shape so you can look great in your shorts and swimming gear.

Losing weight can actually be quite fun. There are some activities that are enjoyable to do, that really do burn up a lot of calories. So, you will have fun and lose weight at the same time.

Spring and autumn are both great times for gardening. In spring you get to plant new flowers and make sure your garden is weeded and ready for the summer growth. If it is autumn, you will need to make sure your plants are covered and bushes are pruned before winter arrives. Gardening is great for tuning muscles and losing weight.

This weather is also perfect for taking long walks on the weekend. Jump in the car and find a hill or nature reserve, or somewhere really nice to walk. You can also get great exercise and burn up calories by playing football, or soccer, or some other fun team sport.
If you are used to relaxing by the pool with a drink in your hand for your vacations, why not try something different for a change. Go on a hiking vacation, or find a mountain to climb. Instead of being lazy, go and do something active and refreshing instead.

Join a charity group, and do something active and fun for others. Often you will find that schools, or orphanages or old folks home are looking for people to volunteer and help do something for them, such as paint a wall, or do some gardening.

If you have children, go to a park with them, or take them on a long bike ride. Camping can be really fun too and you always get lots of exercise when you camp.

There are so many fun and energizing activities you can do that will help you burn up tons of calories and lose weight fast and easy at the same time.

What Constitutes A Healthy Diet Plan?

by Claire Addison on February 1, 2010

Get ready to lose those unwanted pounds permanently by following a healthy diet plan that not only sheds off excess fat faster but also helps the body maintain your ideal weight and figure. Start your healthy lifestyle with a healthy diet plan.

A healthy diet plan is a carefully planned menu that consists of healthy and nutritious foods that will help you reach your weight loss goal. It is a flexible and balanced menu plan made from healthy food choices and more beneficial food alternatives. Having a set menu planned for the week or the month allows you to only consider such healthy choices. Planning meals ahead of time lets you identify the exact type of food to eat therefore choosing less healthy foods the last minute will be avoided. When planning a menu, it is recommended that meals are divided into 6 small portions a day to help suffice periodic hunger.

Choosing the healthy alternatives lets you still enjoy eating without the guilt. You can still include rice in the diet but ensure that you get brown rice instead of white rice. Replace white bread with whole grain bread, reduce oil when cooking, and opt to choose skim milk and low-fat yogurt. When possible, opt for organic foods. Drink a glass of water whenever you feel hungry as sometimes the brain confuses thirst with hunger.

To add more motivation in following a healthy diet plan, you can add some variations to make the change in eating habit still interesting. Low-fat cheese, air-pooped popcorn, cereals, fresh and dried fruit, nuts and seeds, yogurt, pretzels and crackers are some healthy alternatives for snacks. As long as these are taken in moderation, there is nothing to worry about. In fact, there’s evidence to suggest that some of these items are foods that speed up your metabolism.

Basically, a healthy diet plan consists of variations of food. Balance will only be achieved if there are different types of nourishing foods in the menu. Excluding certain foods, even fat, can mean missing key nutrients that the body still needs. Fat and sugar play key roles in a normal person’s diet but these should be taken in moderation. In order to stick to a balanced menu plan, it is wise to list down the healthy foods you will need before you do your grocery shopping. If you have a list to stick to, you are less likely to add unhealthy foods to your cart.

And of course, while it is also not recommended to completely shun from sweet and salty foods, do your best to limit the intake or avoid them. Chips, cookies, soda, sweetened juices, and chocolates are less likely to help you lose weight. But you can still enjoy eating such as long as you keep them in moderation. You may even add an exercise routine to compensate for the calorie or fat gained. Healthy diet plans need not to be strict and boring, they should be fun and encouraging in order to motivate you lose weight and maintain it.
