If you are looking to install outside lighting to decorate your garden but you also want to do your bit for the environment, think about buying solar string lights. These lights don’t need to be plugged in anywhere and they don’t send your electricity bill sky high like a ballroom chandelier. They use a solar panel attached via a discrete wire and rechargeable batteries to store power from the sun during the day, which is then used to illuminate your garden after dark.

Although the sun may be in short supply some days, these lights do not use much energy and so daylight is usually enough to power the lights for a few hours in the evening.

Of course, the most green way to behave is not to buy anything unnecessary at all, but if we are to enjoy our lives and homes, then some compromises have to be made and solar lighting seems to be a particularly harmless one for the level of pleasure it will give all who view your garden. Not only do you get the beauty of the lights, while you are out in your garden on a summer night, you will also be able to see more of your garden and get pleasure from it on a cold night in winter. A string of lights will enhance the view from your home, and perhaps even its value should you sell. There is nothing like light for making everything look better from dull walls and fences to dark imposing trees and they will add a festive touch to every evening party and celebration you hold in your garden.

Solar string lights need not be expensive as you can get many sets with a 50 or 100 bulbs for twenty or thirty dollars. There are few other items you could get for your garden (or home for that matter), which would have so much impact and give you so much pleasure for so little. Look for the best deals on the web or you can seek out lights at your local garden or discount store.

Installation is simple too. Place the solar panel facing the sun and then arrange the string of lights. How easy is that to make such a difference to your garden?

With the focus today being ever more on keeping the world in a good condition for our children and grandchildren you might want to think about environmental factors before you purchase a new kennel for your dog.

Start by using a dog kennel guide to help you to decide which type of kennel would best suit your needs and then weigh up the environmental cost of buying that type of kennel. Kennels are usually made of one of three materials, which will concentrate on here.

Wood

The production of timber, as long as it’s from a sustainable source, has a relatively low environmental impact. Chopping down trees and producing wooden planks produces relatively low carbon emissions into the atmosphere and the growth of the trees in the first place will have helped to reduce the carbon monoxide in the atmosphere. It is also often possible to recycle the wood once it is no longer being used to make a dog home or else it will biodegrade nicely over time. You can build yourself a large dog kennel from wood and not worry overly about the impact that you will be having on the earth.

Plastic

Plastic kennels may look pretty in all their different colours but environmentally they are a disaster. The initial production of the plastic itself involves the use of toxic chemicals which pollute the air and then infiltrate the waterways. They are known to cause a range of illnesses, including cancer, if exposed to them. Once the kennel is no longer needed it will just end up in a landfill site for ever as plastic doesn’t biodegrade. Burning of plastic would just put those toxic chemicals back into the atmosphere again so don’t be swayed by the fact that many local councils say that they re-cycle plastic, it will always end up as waste. You will need to weigh up carefully the benefits of a lightweight and easy to clean kennel with its impact on the environment.

Metal

The extraction and smelting of metal uses a lot of oil, which is a dwindling resource, and the by products of these processes are the emissions of carbon monoxide and other gases into the atmosphere. However, once the metal has been produced and used, it is easy to recycle again and again. In fact it is thought that up to 50% of metal used today has been already used before. A metal kennel or run is not the end of the world environmentally speaking.

In the consumer driven economy, almost everyone has access to some kind of electronic device. This includes items such as television sets and computers for example. However, when these products no longer work or need to be disposed of, some may often be retired at the local landfills. The problem with this is that these items can remit toxins into the environment over time and facilities are lacking room. As a solution to this ongoing problem, many have turned to the electronics recycling industry in an effort to reduce waste and be more responsible.

Cost Concerns

One of the prime reasons that some consumers may not properly dispose of this equipment is because they believe that it may be costly to do so. Although in previous years electronic recycling could be somewhat expensive, times have significantly changed. As a matter of fact, it may actually cost a lot more to take these unused or broken items to a landfill. To promote recycling and find ways to manage such wastes, these facilities are beginning to charge considerable amounts of money to accept these items. Recycling centers for televisions and computers have not only become affordable, but some retailers will even take these items at no cost.

Why Participate in Recycling Efforts?

In addition to doing something that contributes to the well being of the environment, this old equipment can be utilized in various ways. Some of the components of the equipment may be used to make other common products, reducing the need for other resources. The consumer may also be able to save money. When donating old or useless equipment to some participating retailers, they may receive incentives in the form of a store credit or discount on certain items. However, this may not be offered by all companies and requirements will often vary.

I am always on the lookout for great new hair products. The problem is that finding good hair products that are also organic can be very challenging. It doesn’t help that my hair is fine and tends to get frizzy when it is humid. Oh, and I’m going gray which is making my hair drier than ever. (Yet somehow my scalp can still get oily.)

That is why when I ran across Modern Organic Products, I knew I had to give them a try.

Modern Organic Products are a line of beauty products owned my American Crew, Inc. They may organic shampoo, conditioner, detangler’s and styling products. MOP hair even has products for toddlers. (Ok, I don’t exactly need that because no matter how hard I try my four year old has officially left his toddler years.)

According to their website they are striving to maintain a high standard and provide salon quality products that still respect the earth. The idea behind MOP hair products is that you should feed your hair in the same way that you feed your body. They don’t do animal testing and they promote recycling.

I decided to try the MOP C System, and here is my experience.

Mop C System Hydrating Shampoo

The Modern Organic Products hydrating shampoo is sulfate free, color safe and PH balanced. It offers antioxidants and a rich blend of vitamins. I am a sucker for things that smell good and the smell is simply divine! It is a citrus scent comes from essential oils and is not at all overpowering. I color my hair and I found that my hair color stayed great when I used this product. If your hair is like mine – fine, frizzy, dry at the ends, oily at the scalp – this is the right product for you. My hair was very manageable!

Since it is sulfate free, it doesn’t lather like all shampoos. To me, this is a small sacrifice for my health. It also means that if your hair is dry this shampoo will not strip your scalp like many others. The glycerin in this shampoo left my hair shiny.

MOP C System Hydrating Conditioner

This is Modern Organic Products best selling conditioner. Because I have such a weird combination of an oily scalp and dry frizzy ends, I have a really hard time finding a conditioner that I like. This one was great! Oh- and it smells great too!

MOP C System Firm Finish Hair Spray

My husband actually stole this hair spray from me. I had to buy another one because I got tired of searching for MY hair spray every time I needed it. He even used in on our preschool boys, who didn’t even complain. Not only does it smell great, the hold is fabulous. This is my favorite MOP hair product.

Modern Organic Products Leave In Conditioner

Because I blow dry my hair every time I wash, I like to alternative using a regular conditioner one day and a leave in conditioner next. This conditioner has Certified organic carrot puree (which surprised me) as well as Echinacea and Dandelion. Surprisingly, it left me frizz free and my hair was not weighted down. I actually like it better than the Aveda leave in conditioner that I have been using.

.

Over the past few years, there has been a lot of talk surrounding Hoodia Gordonii. The Hoodia Gordonii plant is a leafless plant that originated in South Africa. There has been a great debate over the plant and its uses. It has shown to offer great benefits, with everything from weight loss to endurance and balance improvement.

How It Works
There are a few ways the Hoodia Gordonii works. It is known for helping people to lose weight for one thing. When taken regularly, Hoodia can help you lose weight by suppressing your appetite. It does not work magically to help you drop the pounds but it does keep your appetite under control so you can stop eating so much and lose the weight over time.

Hoodia is one of the best weight loss products you can use because it helps you lose weight gradually rather than all at once, which can be unsafe. Of course, for the best results you also must eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly. You cannot expect the Hoodia to do all the work. Your lifestyle must be healthy to see improvement.

You can purchase Hoodia in pill form and there is also the Hoodia patch, which is quite popular. You simply place the patch on your arm or elsewhere on your body and the Hoodia makes its way into your bloodstream. The Hoodia supplements and patches work well and are perfect for people on the go. You simply use it every morning and can go on your way as you would any other day.

Side Effects
There are certain side effects of Hoodia that one must be aware of before starting on any Hoodia product. If you suffer from diabetes or liver problems you should consult your doctor before using Hoodia. Because Hoodia is a powerful herb you may believe you have safe blood sugar levels and skip essential meals. This is risky for someone suffering from diabetes whose blood sugar levels can drop quickly.

Where To Buy
If you are interested in trying Hoodia out for yourself, you can visit any local health food store in your area. You should be able to find a decent selection here. You can also shop online. Because of its widespread popularity, you can find Hoodia at various stores around the globe. It is relatively inexpensive so you will not have to break the bank buying the stuff.

If you want to lose weight or just improve your overall health, Hoodia is certainly worth a try. It is easy to take and there are few risks. You may want to talk to your doctor more about this before starting on it. They can do a proper assessment and ensure you are not putting yourself at any risk by using Hoodia.

Taking care of the environment is getting a lot of play nowadays. Everyone is aware that we should reduce our consumption and reduce our waste output and that is why we recycle. However, one thing that is often overlooked is what happens to our waterways when we do some house cleaning. What does it mean when household cleaners aren’t green friendly? In this article, we explore some better alternatives when tackling our cleaning jobs.

A lot of the commercial household cleaners that you buy aren’t very healthy for the environment. That is because when they contain chemicals that can’t be broken down easily through the water treatment plants. Some of the things you have to look out for are products containing phosphates, petroleum and chlorine.

Phosphates are used in our cleaning products as water softeners. However, once it goes down the drain, it gets into our waterways and can promote the growth of algae and that pollutes our waters. So when you’re looking for laundry detergent, stay away from phosphate.

Next on the list of cleaners to ban in your cleaning job is the use of petroleum based products. To extract petroleum actually produces a lot of pollution. If you need a strong cleaner, why not use borax? It’s an alkaline salt which can be found in nature. While it is toxic in large quantities and should be kept away from small children and pets, it’s a much better alternative than petroleum based products.

Finally, a very common household cleaner is chlorine bleach. People use it as a disinfectant but they should use it with caution. Chlorine bleach contains trace amounts of compounds known as organochlorines which have been known to cause cancer in small animals. It goes without saying that it could be a warning sign to humans as well. Use this product with caution or use other types of cleaners to disinfect. Once again, borax is a good choice as a disinfectant.

Being green and environmentally friendly touches us all directly or indirectly. If it doesn’t have a direct health benefit to us right now, it will eventually through our children. Therefore, it isn’t about being tree huggers or fighting for a distant cause. It’s about self preservation for ourselves and the environment.

For those people on their first cleaning house jobs, here are a few tips for a greener environment.

Good old baking soda and vinegar are great to use as an all purpose cleaner. The grit in the baking soda can scour most things as well as deodorize. Or, if you’re looking for something a little more powerful then take a look at borax.

A lot of green cleaning recipes call for borax and some people are confused by it because they think it is toxic. And while it is poisonous since one of its uses is as an insecticide, it is an alkaline mineral salt that is naturally occuring in nature. However, too much of a good thing can be bad so it is recommended in do-it-yourself cleaning home solutions that you store borax safely away from children and animals. But comparatively speaking to petroleum based commercial products, borax is great for cleaning and should be put in your arsenal of cleaning products along with baking soda.

For instance, if you need to deodorize your house, you can sprinkle baking soda in your carpet and vacuum away the powder. Or, if you’re struggling with urine smells then borax can come to the rescue. You can dampen the carpet or mattress with water and sprinkle some borax, let things dry and vacuum it away. It also makes sense that borax is great to use in the bathroom as well to keep things fresh.

Speaking of fresh, a lot of house cleaners would be tempted to use air fresheners but this is unnecessary not to mention harmful to one’s health. A lot of air fresheners are made with ingredients that contain carcinogens so stay away from these chemical cocktails. Instead, the most logical solution would be just to open the windows to let the air circulate. Let fresh air in and the toxic air out. If that is not enough to freshen the room, use essential oils. They come in a variety of scents and not only do they smell great but different scents can be very soothing as well.

As more and more clients are moving to green cleaning for the benefit of their health and the environment, house cleaners need to know how to fulfill this cleaning demand in order to find house cleaning employment. In fact, the faster one can learn how to use natural products, the bigger the niche one can carve out in the burgeoning green cleaning industry.

Everyone becomes depressed at some point. There may be times when you feel like your world is over and no one around you cares. There are people who love you out there, whether you realize their support or not. There are plenty of people out there who are just waiting for you to ask them for help in coping with your depression.

The logical place to start is with your family. You may feel like your family is the only dysfunctional one in the world, but every family has their own fights and their problems. There will even be times when the fighting gets so bad that you feel like the only option is to stop speaking to them for a while. You should still be able to open up to them and ask them for their love and support in helping you to get over the depression that you are feeling.

It does not always have to be a blood relation that defines someone as family. A real friend will always stand by your side, no matter how lost you are or how deep your depression is. Sometimes you will have a friend that is so close that they are more like a family member. Real friends support each other through anything; if you are depressed and look to them for support, they will gladly give it if they are really your friends.

There are lots of people that you can talk to when you need guidance, such as authority figures that you trust; some of these people are teachers or spiritual leaders that you trust. We tend to not be particularly close to these people much of the time, so it can seem difficult to talk to them at first. Still, when you are depressed, guidance and advice can be a good thing, so you may want to consider attempting to overcome that difficulty.

Do not worry if you believe that you are unable to afford mental health care services. They are available for free or at low-cost to those who need them, and more information could be found at your local hospital or community bulletin board. The potential for judgment makes some people too shy to talk to their friends and family about their painful and sometimes very awkward emotions. When they speak to psychologists instead, they don’t have to worry about being judged for their depression because of the professional nature of the conversation and the lack of judgment that comes with diagnosing depression.

The road down the path to good health and recovery begins with a decision; this is the only way that you can really overcome depression. No one out there will be able to do anything to help you break free from your depression until you make a decision to accept that help. People are always going to be there for you, no matter how it may seem like no one cares and you are all alone. Consider all the people in your life; really stop and try to think about their perspective. You may find that there are many people who love you and are just waiting for you to ask them for help.

If you want to buy environmentally friendly green clothing or products and have been doing some research and wonder just what Fair Trade is and whether it’s going to fill the bill, this may help you out. (For more on green clothing and what it is, take a look at http://greenclothingguide.com/).

The primary principles of Fair Trade are that it was designed to be more fair to developing countries’ producers of marketable items, be they coffee, tea, rugs, women’s clothing, infant clothing, fashion jewelry, organic baby products, or any other item, coupled with the need to support the sustainability of the environment. International standards have been developed to protect the rights of those working to produce Fair Trade products such as: not permitting child labor, promoting gender equality, protecting worker safety in the workplace, and implementing human rights practices according to the United Nations. They also encourage more fair pricing than formerly practiced, allowing producers more access to direct markets, and providing support and development of producers’ skill sets, among others. There are guidelines on managing end-to-end process of production through ecologically sound principles of land protection and conservation, and ethical purchasing of raw materials.

To protect the consumer, production standards provide guidelines on merchandise quality and consistency so products meet customary values of the contemporary, international market. These guidelines are used to educate the producers, sellers, and consumers throughout the supply chain, and are monitored by international Fair Trade organizations.

Whether you are buying Fair Trade women’s clothing, coffee, jewelry, or any other product, it is wise to review the labeling if you want to be assured that what you are buying actually meets internationally agreed upon Fair Trade standards. The Fairtrade Labelling Organizations International (FLO). (FLO) Fairtrade Certification Mark is used for Fairtrade product labeling.

The World Fair Trade Organization (WFTO) FTO Mark is for Fair Trade organizations that have registered and agreed that they are 100% Fair Trade organizations in all their practices.

Buying “green” or environmentally friendly clothing or products, if that is your choice, can be a daunting experience, but a rewarding one. There are many types of clothing and products that are labeled as such, but you as a smart consumer, would benefit from knowing exactly what you are looking for and how to tell whether it fits your needs; that depends how and where the clothing is produced, under which standards, and whether production is monitored.

The labels tell the story.

Whether you are already a fan of international clothing or products, or have never explored them before, and you care about their ethical and environmentally friendly production, the Fair Trade market is an exciting one to explore. There are many wonderful and beautiful clothing and product offerings in the international marketplace. Participating in the Fair Trade market as a consumer can be a jump into a whole new experience, helps the world economy and those of developing countries, and opens up new ties with other cultures.

When you are hypertensive and trying to find out why, you should start by finding out what the most common causes of hypertension are. High blood pressure is commonly caused as the result of arterial disease, according to some medical providers. Arterial disease and high blood pressure occur together very frequently, about 80% to 90% of the time. There are many different physical conditions that are classified as arterial disease. The constriction of blood vessels and the impairment of blood flow through the arteries by plaque deposits are a few.

Higher blood pressure levels are one of the side effects of the worsening of arterial disease. This is the result of a number of different causes coming together. Increasing the amount of blood flow through the same size of artery or a reduction in artery diameter will cause this. When either of these occurs, blood pressure levels rise.

Even though doctors may not always be entirely clear as to what is causing this, there is mounting evidence that is pointing towards there being a hereditary component. Blood pressure levels rise as the result of arterial constriction, and that constriction is believed to be caused by some sort of genetic abnormality.

Then, of course, there is also another form of high blood pressure called secondary hypertension. The way that you differentiate between primary hypertension and secondary hypertension is that secondary hypertension occurs without an obvious explanation. When all the people who are diagnosed as having high blood pressure are put together, about 15% of them have secondary hypertension.

There are quite a few different kidney disorders that can directly cause the development of high blood pressure. Blood pressure regulation is one of the lesser-known functions carried out by the kidneys, though most people are aware of their job scrubbing the blood clean of toxins. Any disease that directly affects the kidneys can, as a side effect, have a similar effect on your blood pressure. Blood pressure rises as the result of kidney damage because when a kidney is damaged, blood volume increases because the kidney is no longer able to remove as much water and salt from the body as it could when it was healthy.

Kidney infections have the potential of causing the arteries that supply blood to them to narrow. Renal artery stenosis is one of these infections, and can also cause inflammation to occur where the kidney is injured. Blood pressure rises because the same amount of blood needs to flow through a more narrow artery.

Not only can overall health be affected by your hormonal balance, but there are a small number of cases where it actually causes hypertension. When all cases of diagnosed hypertension are measured, 1% to 2% of them are caused by a hormonal imbalance. Hormone therapy and lifestyle adjustment are the two primary treatments for hormone-induced high blood pressure. Of all the health secrets that you may use in order to treat this condition, pine bark extract and CoQ10 are two of the most effective when it comes to supporting cardiovascular health. Learning how to take blood pressure correctly at home will also help you better manage and control your condition.
